What started as a side service for Mike's Sotheby's clients — helping them manage the property they'd just bought — became a business of its own when owners noticed how different the experience felt. Cypress & Pine is deliberately small. Mike caps the portfolio at 40 properties because that's the ceiling at which he can still personally walk every home, know every tenant's name, and answer every owner's call within the hour. Growing past that would require the call-center machinery he founded the company to avoid.
